Zakelijke banden tussen de familie
Bush en de familie bin Laden 1 2
13nov01
Op 27 september schrijft de Wall Street Journal: 'If
the U.S. boosts defense spending in its quest to stop Osama bin Laden's
alleged terrorist activities, there may be one unexpected beneficiary:
Mr. bin Laden's family. Among its far-flung business interests, the
well-heeled Saudi Arabian clan -- which says it is estranged from
Osama -- is an investor in a fund established by Carlyle
Group, a well-connected Washington merchant bank specializing
in buyouts of defense and aerospace companies. Through this investment
and its ties to Saudi royalty, the bin Laden family has become acquainted
with some of the biggest names in the Republican Party. In
recent years, former President Bush, ex-Secretary of State James Baker
and ex-Secretary of Defense Frank Carlucci have made the pilgrimage
to the bin Laden family's headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Mr.
Bush makes speeches on behalf of Carlyle Group and is senior
adviser to its Asian Partners fund, while Mr. Baker is its senior
counselor. Mr. Carlucci is the group's chairman.'
'WALL STREET JOURNAL: BUSH SR. IN BUSINESS
WITH BIN LADEN FAMILY CONGLOMERATE THROUGH CARLYLE GROUP
FAMILY HAD RENOUNCED TIES TO TERRORIST
SON BUT FAMILY STILL UNDER FBI INVESTIGATION
FATHER OF PRESIDENT SHOULD PULL OUT OF
INTERNATIONAL CONSULTING FIRM
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the
public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government
corruption and abuse, reacted with disbelief to The Wall Street Journal
report of yesterday that George H.W. Bush, the father of President
Bush, works for the bin Laden family business in Saudi Arabia through
the Carlyle Group, an international consulting firm.' Lees hier

Voormalig CIA-agent Mike Ruppert schrijft
op 26 oktober: 'The New York Times is today reporting that, “The Saudi
family of Osama bin Laden is severing its financial ties with the
Carlyle Group, a private investment firm known for its connections
to influential Washington political figures, executives who have been
briefed on the decision said today.” Some of those influential figures
include George H.W. Bush and his son, our President.
The Times story indicates that the decision by the bin Ladens was
the result of “public controversy” about the family’s investments
in the nation’s 11th largest defense contractor. The Carlyle Group
employs former President George Bush, who met with the bin Laden family
in Saudi Arabia in 1998 and 2000. As a result of explosive increases
in the US defense budget the Carlyle Group is facing enormous windfall
profits. And there is still strong suspicion that, in spite of mainstream
reports indicating otherwise, the family has not severed all ties
with the alleged mastermind of the September 11th attacks on the World
Trade Center.'
[Kort en bondig nagekomen bericht van 8 januari 2002:] 'Like
everyone else in the United States, the group stood transfixed as
the events of September 11 unfolded. Present were former secretary
of defense Frank Carlucci, former secretary of state James Baker III,
and representatives of the bin Laden family. This was not some underground
presidential bunker or Central Intelligence Agency interrogation room.
It was the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., the plush setting for
the annual investor conference of one of the most powerful, well-connected,
and secretive companies in the world: the Carlyle Group. And since
September 11, this little-known company has become unexpectedly important',
aldus
Westen, wederom aldus Briody.
